Bundesliga Football Writer Mark Lovell gives me his thoughts on Leno

Image
German Bundesliga football writer and correspondent Mark Lovell gives his honest views on Goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who has tonight joined Arsenal.  Enjoy! CD: First of all, thank you for kindly agreeing to do this interview with me and answer some questions regarding Bernd Leno. So, with official confirmation of the transfer tonight, what sort of player will the club be getting?   ML: Leno at 26 has been keen to move for a while and test himself abroad, making the next step in his career at a bigger club. His dream was to play for Real Madrid but the sway of the Premier League ultimately wins the day. He’ll be joining a club at a similar level (Europa League) but with much higher expectations and massive history. CD: What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are? ML: Strengths - A great (close range) shot stopper with fantastic reflexes, possessing decent kicking skills and distribution. He is Calm, f...

Bundesliga Commentator Kevin Hatchard talks Bernd Leno

Image
Experienced Bundesliga Commentator and football writer Kevin Hatchard gives me his thoughts on Bernd Leno, who is closing in on a move to Arsenal. KH: 'Arsenal are getting a goalkeeper who has built up a huge amount of experience in the Bundesliga, Champions League and at international level. He has been the undisputed number one at Bayer Leverkusen for a long time, and at the age of 26, he still has a lot of football left in his career. Leno is agile and an excellent shot-stopper. He is brave, willing to commit himself to dangerous challenges in one-on-ones.  Where Leno falls down is that he can be guilty of losing concentration and making costly errors, whether it’s with the ball at his feet or in situations where his handling lets him down. Cutting out those avoidable mistakes will be the key to whether he reaches the next level. His final season at Leverkusen was ultimately a disappointment, as the team was smashed 6-1 by Bayern in the DFB ...

Interview with Commentator Dan O'Hagan r.e. Sokratis

Image
Dan O'Hagan - From the Premier League to the Champions league, Serie A, Bundesliga and World Cups, Dan has covered a lot so far in his career as a commentator and reporter. He has seen a lot of Sokratis in recent years and i'm delighted to share this interview below that I have managed to do with him. Enjoy! CD: Hi Dan, first of all thank you for kindly agreeing to give me and all Arsenal fans a bit more of an insight into Sokratis Papastathopoulos. So, with the imminent arrival at the Emirates, what kind of player will Arsenal be getting? DOH: In short, an old-fashioned centre-half. Sokratis is the epitome of rugged physicality, the kind of defender who puts his body on the line for the cause. He’s no stranger to a yellow card or two. He’s better with the ball at his feet than he’s given credit for too, often stepping forward into midfield to start or join an attack. The kind of defender Arsenal have been missing for years. CD : What are his strength...

I'm also visiting Professor of Communications at INSEAD, the world's Number One Business school at Fontainebleau, executive coaching MBAs and Executive MBAs. So, a varied diet. It means I get to spend more time with my children. I have a puppy and a kitten. I'm supposed to be writing a book. I'm trying to learn Spanish. So again, a varied diet. Arsenal need someone to sort out their communications ! I moved from North London to South Croydon 3 years ago to be near the children (I'm divorced), which...
